About us
GRITO Collective is an independent non-profit organization, ideologically leftist, based in Geneva, Switzerland. Brazilian living abroad, as well as other expatriate citizens are part of the group. This group emerged spontaneously at the end of 2018 when an authoritarian government, which has no intention to govern for the people, arose to power. as a reaction to the political moment in which Brazil was and continues making through. Over this period, many international militant groups started emerging around the world and, at the same time, GRITO gave its first steps as a collective connected to this movement of resistance and political struggle.
What we do
We hold events, conferences, debates, meetings and other actions in solidarity with Brazil and the world. Our activities are usually coordinated by a network of collectives and international organizations. Our intention is to establish partnerships with social organizations and movements in order to denounce the setbacks and attacks against the rights of the Brazilian people. We fight for all the causes that we consider essential for the construction of a more just and equal world.
Our objective
Our goal is to be a channel where the voices of oppressed people can resonate. We are a group that fights against the irregularities and injustices committed in Brazil and in the world. Our work aims to strengthen democratic systems, international solidarity for the defense of human rights, anti-capitalist, anti-colonialist, anti-patriarchal, anti-racist, anti-fascist, struggles against all forms of exclusion, oppression, and violence. We support initiatives in favor of social and environmental justice, as well as acting in defense and assistance to indigenous peoples and traditional communities in Brazil.
Our scream is deep, comes from within, it represents the screams of pain from the ones who were ,and keep being, massacred and silenced, it is the scream of resistance that echoes from our ancestrality. It is the scream of Dandara, Marielle, Chico Mendes, Galdino… It is a scream that appeals for solidarity, help, justice, popular movement and transformation.
